We gather regularly to nurture both individual spiritual growth and our life together as a faith community. From our weekly worship to monthly business meetings conducted in the manner of Friends, each gathering serves our shared commitment to listening for divine guidance and supporting one another's spiritual journeys. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time Friend, this schedule will help you understand the rhythm of our community life and find the gatherings that speak to your condition. We sit together in expectant silence, creating space for the Divine to speak to our condition and guide us into deeper communion with God and one another. No prior experience is necessary. Simply come as you are and join us in this centuries-old practice of listening for the still, small voice within. Our worship typically includes periods of profound silence punctuated by occasional vocal ministry from those moved to speak. All are welcome. Newcomers often find our worship surprisingly accessible and deeply meaningful, describing the silence as being "held" by the gathered community. [What to Expect When Visiting](https://www.matinecockquaker.org/what-to-expect?hsLang=en) MONTHLY GATHERINGS ## Building community through fellowship and faithful business.  ![Group of friends drinking coffee and talking in a circle](https://www.matinecockquaker.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/Group%20of%20friends%20drinking%20coffee%20and%20talking%20in%20a%20circle.jpeg?noresize&width=1001&height=667&name=Group%20of%20friends%20drinking%20coffee%20and%20talking%20in%20a%20circle.jpeg) #### Monthly Hospitality *Every First Sunday at 11:00 AMLocation: Hospitality SuiteFollowing Meeting for Worship* Join us immediately after worship on the first Sunday of each month for extended fellowship, refreshments, and community building. This relaxed gathering provides wonderful opportunities for newcomers to meet community members, ask questions about Quaker practices, and deepen friendships within our meeting. Our monthly hospitality reflects the Quaker testimony of community, recognizing that our spiritual lives are enriched when we take time to know and care for one another beyond the silence of worship. ![Group of diverse people sitting in a circle, listening and talking with each other](https://www.matinecockquaker.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/Group%20of%20diverse%20people%20sitting%20in%20a%20circle%2c%20listening%20and%20talking%20with%20each%20other.jpeg?noresize&width=1001&height=667&name=Group%20of%20diverse%20people%20sitting%20in%20a%20circle%2c%20listening%20and%20talking%20with%20each%20other.jpeg) #### Meeting for Business *Monthly (Date varies)Location: Hospitality Suite* Also called "meeting for worship with attention to business," this gathering combines worship with community decision-making. We begin in silence and seek divine guidance as we discern together how to care for our meeting and respond to the needs of our wider community. Unlike secular meetings, we don't vote but seek "the sense of the meeting" through patient spiritual discernment. Visitors are welcome to observe this distinctive Quaker practice of communal decision-making. ![People raising hands and folding in prayer at table with Bibles and coffee cups laid out](https://www.matinecockquaker.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/People%20raising%20hands%20and%20folding%20in%20prayer%20at%20table%20with%20Bibles%20and%20coffee%20cups%20laid%20out.jpeg?noresize&width=1001&height=667&name=People%20raising%20hands%20and%20folding%20in%20prayer%20at%20table%20with%20Bibles%20and%20coffee%20cups%20laid%20out.jpeg) #### Committee Meetings *Various dates throughout the month* Our various committees—including Ministry and Oversight (MOC), Building and Grounds, Finance and others—meet regularly to carry out the ongoing work of our meeting. These smaller gatherings enable us to focus on specific areas of concern while maintaining our commitment to the Quaker process and spiritual discernment. ![Group of kids running together in an open field during sunset](https://www.matinecockquaker.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Images/Group%20of%20kids%20running%20together%20in%20an%20open%20field%20during%20sunset-1.jpeg?height=2000&name=Group%20of%20kids%20running%20together%20in%20an%20open%20field%20during%20sunset-1.jpeg) YOUNG FRIENDS PROGRAM ## Nurturing young Friends in the Light.  Young Friends Program*Starting Late 2025Location: Hospitality SuiteDuring Meeting for Worship * We're excited to start our Young Friends Program in late 2025, providing spiritual education and community for children and youth. This program will offer age-appropriate activities that help young people explore Quaker values, connect with their Inner Light, and build meaningful relationships with peers and caring adults. Since the beginning of the Religious Society of Friends, family has been at the heart of Quaker spirituality. We believe children have their own experience of the Divine and can teach adults much about wonder, authenticity, and finding joy in the present moment. Families interested in Young Friends Program are encouraged to contact us as we prepare to launch this vital part of our community life.
